Utility and Large Industrial Solar generation is typically either Photovoltaic (PV) or Concentrated Solar Thermal apparatus usually connected into a steam generation system. Both have created a huge construction industry followed by the need for Operations and Maintenance. Similar to modern wind installations, each has a Transmission Grid segment with a tie-in connected to a substation and a collection system MV and LV PV. WECS Solar CONSTRUCTION and O&M consist of three pillars of Electrical, Mechanical, and Hydraulic components and systems. Similar to Wind Energy is the use of high tech electrical Power Conversion systems involving power electronics to convert generated voltage and amperage into a grid acceptable power. Also compatible are the electrical LV and MV components and designs related to moving power from the generating format to the grid. Hydraulics play a role in some of the system movement requirements used to adjust mirrors of PV panels, and of the movement of high-pressure liquids involved with the concentrated solar steam generation.
